Band Night for 8th Grade and Color Guard – October 6th

Greetings to you from Dodge City High School! Our team is looking forward to “Band Night” on October 6th at Memorial Stadium. “Band Night” is an evening set aside to promote our district’s growing middle school and high school band programs and will be held during the Dodge City High School football game against Hays High School.
The 8th Grade Bands from both Comanche Middle School and Dodge City Middle School have both been invited to participate in the pre-game show. Here is what the evening’s schedule currently looks like:

5:00 pm Band students meet in the CMS Band Room
6:40 pm Perform Star Spangled Banner and the Pre-Game show
7:00 pm Game begins: middle school students sit with the DCHS band on east side
8:00 pm Halftime: middle school bands watch the DCHS Band performance
8:30 pm Once the DCHS Band’s halftime performance is finished all middle school band students will be dismissed (at this time students will be escorted back to CMS to put away their instruments), parents may then pick up their student at CMS

This evening is the 11th annual “Band Night” and we are excited to combine our CMS, DCMS, and DCHS bands! There will be more than 350 band students on the field! Parents, we want your support, especially during pre-game when the middle school students will be performing. Please plan to attend and support our phenomenal band program!

While the evening will be filled with fun and publicity, your students will need to remember the following details:

1. This performance is required and worth 200 points of their first quarter grade.
2. Students are required to purchase a lyre and flip folder to hold their music ASAP!
3. CMS students must wear either a black polo or the CMS band polo with tan khaki pants.
4. Students must wear comfortable tennis to protect their feet while marching.

Parent Letter

Our departments will need help with keeping “crazy” behaviors at bay. If you would be interested in chaperoning the “Band Night” please contact Miss Stoops. Once again, we are looking forward to “Band Night” on October 6th. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Stone at CMS. Thank you for adding this evening of music and marching to your family calendar! We’ll see you soon!
Sincerely,
Your Directors – Mr. Stone & Miss Stoops
