Our band has been invited to perform for the Dodge City High School Homecoming Parade! For this event, much like Band Night, our 8th Grade Band will join forces with the 8th Grade Band from Dodge City Middle School. We hope that this event will not only be a great way to showcase the talent of our two middle schools here in Dodge City but will also help our students develop their marching fundamentals as we prepare for the Parade of Lights happening in December. This year’s Homecoming Parade will be on Friday, September 22nd.
Here is a look at the timeline:
4:30 PM – Students are dropped off at the Boot Hill Museum. We ask students to meet us by the black train. Leave ALL instrument cases with the person dropping your students off
5:00 PM – The Homecoming Parade starts
6:00 PM – Students should be picked up at Comanche Middle School in front of the building.
Students should have their lyre and flip-folder with their parade music, their band polo or school approved black polo, tan khaki shorts or pants and comfortable athletic shoes. This performance is a required (200 point) performance and has been on the band calendar since August. Please make sure your student is in attendance.
Our department will be in need of chaperones and equipment movers for this event. We will need three pick-up trucks willing to haul percussion gear and larger wind instruments. For this event we would really like at least 5 chaperones (preferably 3 with pick-ups). If you would be willing to help out, please contact a director by September 15th so our department can plan accordingly.
We really look forward to celebrating the spirit of Dodge City in the Homecoming Parade!
